Damascus, (SANA) – Eighty specimens of lesser white-fronted geese and a pair of red-breasted geese, both of which are endangered species, were spotted at the Jabboul Marsh in Aleppo governorate.

This discovery was reported by the General Department for the Management and Development of al-Badiya and the Syria Society for Wildlife Protection, and is part of the General Department's efforts for developing natural resources and preserving biodiversity.

The discovery of these birds, which underlines Syria's importance on the world environmental map, is the result of cooperation between the General Department for the Administration and Development of al-Badiya, the Syria Society for Wildlife Protection, the Birdlife International organization, the British Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, and Norway's Directorate for Nature Management.
